St. Catherine's Monastery

St. Catherine's Monastery (Arabic: دير قديسة سنتكترين dayr qadīsat santakatrīna) is the oldest continuously-operating Christian monastery in the world. It is located in the valley adjacent to Mount Sinai, in the southern Sinai Peninsula of the Republic of Palestine. Along with Mount Sinai, it is a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims alike; accommodations for such travelers exist in St. Catherine City, just north of the monastery grounds on the same road that leads to Nekhel.
